Instrument: Intelligence. Joint science-business projects
Funding available: EUR 171 390,86
Project start date: 2017-01-01
Project end date: 30 June 2019
The project consisted of two structural parts – R&D infrastructure development and R&D activities for new product development.
Financed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Development of R&D infrastructure
By expanding the R&D infrastructure, the company has created one of the most advanced soil, plant and microbiological research centres in the Baltic States. The research centre is now able to accurately determine nitrogen and phosphorus parameters, physico-chemical soil properties, and precision plant measurements (such as the weight of 1000 seeds). The expanded infrastructure allows for the analysis, development and marketing of new organic and environmentally friendly agrochemical products.
R&D for new product development
Recently, the company has been active in the research and commercialisation of microorganisms (MOs) and related materials. The intensive use of MO concentrates and MO derivatives in agriculture is expected to be the basis for the transformation of agricultural technology in the coming decades. In the context of this project, “Nando Europe“ UAB (formerly “Chemcentras“ UAB) has modeled and developed a biostimulant – MO food.
It is a special formulation introduced into the soil that targets specific MO groups and accelerates their reproduction and activity. Increased levels and parallel action of certain functional MO groups will lead to more intensive plant growth, better vegetation and productivity. Different compositions of targeted MOs have been combined to develop MOs, focusing on efficient nitrogen transfer and other processes that promote MO proliferation.
The project involved laboratory, targeted and field studies, more than 1000 different variations of the formulation under different conditions, identifying the best results and preparing for the commercialisation of the developed products. The laboratory equipment acquired during the project is also being used to develop other products and to upgrade existing products.
